Get a Grip Review: An Honest Get a Grip Handle Review as Seen on TV Ads
Get a Grip Review
Hi everyone. I’m going to give my review of the Get a Grip handle as seen on tv ads. Get a Grip is from Telebrands, and is a popular product because it’s inexpensive, you can get a second one free, and reviews seem to be good. However, I’ve done my own research high and low to see if it’s really as good as they say it is, what issues there may be, especially concerning safety for those needing assistance in the shower, bath, getting up from the toilet, a chair or bed, use in a vehicle, travel trailer, boat, etc. So without further ado, here’s my Get a Grip review.
First, I’ll review the benefits and advantages you’re suppose to get with the Get a Grip product. Then I’ll list any negative feedback I’ve read or heard in my research, and give my final opinion of it.
GetaGrip Pros
- It’s lightweight, portable and easy to use on any level surface, so it can be used in various spots in the shower or tub, while traveling or pulling things, by your chair or bed, etc. Some users have said they use it where they need it for support when cleaning their boats or rv’s
- It’s inexpensive, and you can buy one and get one free paying only shipping of $7.99
- From the reviews, customer feedback and other sources, it appears to be very sturdy, and doesn’t release with a lot of weight and force on it. One customer said they’re 200 pounds and it doesn’t release with constant pulling
- You don’t have to screw it in anywhere to attach it. It affixes to any clean, smooth non-porous surface with the large suction cups using tabs to adhere it or release it
- Some people apparently use it as a foot prop in the shower
- A lot of people seem to purchase more once they’ve used them, so that says a lot
- Instructions indicate not to place the suction cups on grout in a shower stall, but users have said it worked fine there, as well
- They’ve shown it used to lift table tops from pedestals; glass or smooth table tops I would assume
- It sounds like it would have a lot of handy uses (forgive the pun)
- It has a 60 day Money Back Guarantee which you want
Get a Grip Handle Cons
Now to the disadvantages per se that I’ve found:
- The surface does have to be clean and smooth, and although some have said it will affix to grout seams, etc., others have said if the full suction cup is not on a smooth surface such as a crack, etc., it will not stay affixed. I’ve read that depending on the tub shape if may not affix. It needs to be a level surface for the suction cups to adhere, and you want the full suction cups to attach.
- You want to make sure the Get a Grip hardware will fit where you need it. It’s 11 1/2″ long, and I read 4″ wide and 4″ high. I couldn’t find the actual measurement of the suction cups themselves or inside measurement.
- Although a lot say there hasn’t been a problem putting your full weight on it, the manufacturer says you should use it for balance, not particularly for putting your full weight on it,although a lot seem to without a problem. I would suggest that you test it’s grip each time before putting a lot of weight on it just to be on the safe side.

Hi Lorraine:
Thank you for your response on the Get a Grip. I understand your situation. My mother’s 82 with a bad knee. Did any of you contact the company, because they may have been able to help, or you may have gotten a “dud”. They’ll also give you a refund or exchange.
I’m sorry to hear you’ve had such trouble with it. In my research, I found a Ton of great customer reviews, but as you said, the company says to re-attach it and test it before each use, which is the safe thing to do. Is the surface you tried to attach it to flat? Are there any seams, grout, etc. where you attached it? All of these things can make a difference. I think I put that in my review. I’m sure the surface also has to be Dry, and the surfaces it works on are porcelain, tile and fiberglass. Did the latches “snap” down firmly?
I’m very sorry to hear that you’ve had this problem, and I’m very empathetic toward seniors, budget, etc., as my mother lives on Social Security alone, and that’s the last thing they need. I don’t know how long you’ve had it, but I would contact the company and send it back for a refund if you don’t want a replacement.
Please let me know if any of this information is helpful, or if you have any other questions. I appreciate your feedback very much, and want to thank you for contacting me. This is very important information. Please let me know what you do. I’m interested in the outcome.
Take care,
Julie

Hi Lorraine. It’s been quite a while since I responded to your comment on my blog about the Get a Grip handle I reviewed. I hope you were able to return it to the company for a refund. There are some mixed reviews, and there will be some of the items that are not manufactured correctly. But in researching it, I found mostly positive feedback. Please let me know how it turned out for you, and I’ll get more feedback from others on it. Thank you. Julie
