Planks causing shoulder/lower back pain?
Planks causing shoulder/lower back pain?
I am a fairly flexible person and I am “double jointed” meaning I overextend some of my limbs, particularly my arms. When doing a front plank on my forearms for extended periods of time my shoulders hurt for several days after. I can do the side plank with my hand and arm up in the air just fine with a little shaking but the normal front plank I can barely finish as it begins to hurt and I don't really know what I am suppose to be feeling in my abdominal area.
Any suggestions on how not to cause the pain? I am in in the correct position, no butt in the air and flat back. Doing it on my knees offers a bit more support but I know I can support my weight (thus completely uplifted side planks) and embarrassed if I have to do it with my knees.
