Hi James. Yes, I think that's a good idea. It can be so many things, and if you've had it some since your teens, it's better to get it checked. Let me know what you find out, and we can let others know, if you don't mind. Thanks again for visiting. I hope my info was helpful, and I look forward to hearing what you learn. Best of luck to you :) Julie

Thank you for replying. I think with all the possibilities that I should see a doctor. I did recently help a neighbor move a very heavy swingset and I know that it was almost too heavy for the 4 of us - that was several days ago. Almost a week. The pain has been daily since about that time - I'd be willing to bet its somewhat related BUT I have always had that pain on and off since my teens, at least. It would come and go but now its a daily event.

Hi James. Thanks for visiting and asking about the pain (electrical shock) you have in your right lower shoulder blade. A very common cause of this "electrical shock" feeling is a pinched nerve. Have you been in an accident? Seen a chiropractor, and does that help? Do you sleep on that shoulder or with your shoulder under your head or pillow? Make sure you don't sit in the same position too long, massage your shoulder and exercise. It can be caused by tension in that area not allowing blood flow through to the muscle. There is a condition called <em>"Notalgia Paraesthetica"</em> that sounds just like this. Check it out at: <a href="http://dermnetnz.org/systemic/notalgia-paraesthetica.html" rel="nofollow">http://dermnetnz.org/systemic/notalgia-paraesthetica.html</a>. There's also referred pain that can originate somewhere else, but you feel it in another area like your lower right shoulder blade. Some examples are disorders of the stomach (ulcer), esophagus and pancreas. Diaphragm irritation can cause this. Pain from an aortic dissection can cause this referred pain to the shoulder blades, and a viral respiratory infection can cause pleurisy (an inflammation of the lung's lining) that can cause pain in your back, etc. Gall bladder disease can also cause this. If this info doesn't help, you might check with your doctor. As you can see, there are a lot of things that could contribute to this. Many times it's a simple fix. I hope this is helpful to you. Please let me know. Thanks. Julie
